How Much Does Turf Cleaning Cost in San Diego?
Pricing for turf cleaning in San Diego depends on yard size, infill condition, pet usage, and access. A small pet yard is the simplest job, while a large yard with heavy pet use takes more time. We send a written quote after seeing the yard or a few clear photos.
We get the price question on every first call. So we wrote down what actually drives a quote up or down.
Our crew has cleaned turf yards across San Diego County since 2025. The factors below are what we look at when we quote a job, not aspirational rates from a brochure.
What Drives Turf Cleaning Prices Up or Down?
Square footage is the obvious one. After that, it is pet usage and infill condition that move the number.
A 600 sq ft yard in Carmel Valley with no pets and clean black infill takes our crew about 50 minutes. The same yard with two large dogs and three years of compacted urine residue can take two and a half hours.
Drainage matters too. Rancho Bernardo yards built on heavy clay drain slowly, which means longer dwell time for the peroxide rinse. The job simply takes longer.
What Yard Size and Pets Mean for Your Quote
The bigger the yard, the more passes it takes. Pets add to that. A small yard with no pets is the quickest job we do, while a large yard with two or three dogs and years of buildup is the most involved. We send a written quote once we know the square footage and pet situation, and yards over 1,500 sq ft are always quoted after we see them.
Why Do Pet Yards Cost More?
Dog urine does not just sit on the surface. It seeps into the infill and bonds with the silica or zeolite particles. By the time you smell it, the contamination is half an inch deep.
We use a deep extraction process that breaks those bonds. The water comes out the color of weak coffee for the first four or five passes. That is the sign we are actually pulling something out.
A clean yard takes one rinse pass. A heavy pet yard takes four to six. That difference is what you are paying for.
What About Suspiciously Cheap Quotes?
We see them. We have also followed a few of those crews on jobs after the customer called us back unhappy.
A rock-bottom turf cleaning quote in San Diego usually means a leaf blower, a quick rake, and a hose rinse with maybe some Simple Green. That is not cleaning. That is grooming.
If your yard smells, that approach will not fix it. The bacteria are below the surface and a garden hose cannot reach them.
Add-On Services
Our base cleaning covers extraction, sanitizing rinse, and brush-up. Some yards need more.
Infill replacement is priced by square footage and the antimicrobial grade. Heavy de-matting on faded yards and pet area deep peroxide treatment are add-ons we quote per zone. Any add-ons are spelled out in your written quote before we start.
For coastal yards in Encinitas and Del Mar we add a salt-flush step at no extra charge. Salt air crusts the infill, and a standard rinse will not break it up.
What We Will Not Do
We do not pressure wash turf at high PSI. We have seen the damage from a Scripps Ranch homeowner who tried it herself last year. The fibers split and the backing tore.
We also do not quote sight unseen on jobs over 1,500 sq ft or yards we have not seen photos of. Too many variables.
If you want a quote that matches the job, send a few photos through our contact page with the rough square footage. Most quotes go out the same day. Service areas include Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Valley, and the rest of San Diego County.
If we cleaned your turf this year, we would love to hear about it on Google. Mention your neighborhood and what shape the yard was in. That kind of detail helps other San Diego homeowners decide.
